The town of Sant Miquel is the biggest of the municipality with a population of 314 inhabitants in its nucleus and another 910 on its outskirts.
The port of San Miguel is an important tourist nucleus with a number of hotels dotted along the slopes of its hills, all with spectacular sea-views. The tourist population of the complex is around 1,500.

One of the most interesting tourist attractions in Sant Miquel is that of the “Cova de Can Marçà”; a centuries-old cave that was used in ancient times to smuggle contraband onto the island and as a refuge for those who did the smuggling. Today, one can still see the evidence of how the smugglers used the cave, with markings indicating its exits. A damp cave, it contains water pools and an impressive number of stalagmites and stalactites, formed over hundreds of years by limestone and moisture.

The patron saint is Saint Michael the Archangel, and celebrations take place on 29th September and share many of the traditional activities as those of the celebrations of Sant Joan.
