This tower, not unlike those on the rest of the island, was constructed as part of the coastal defence network designed by Calvi, as a complement to the city walls. Work on the tower was officially declared complete on the same day as those of the ‘Torre del Judio’(the Jews’ Tower) of Cala d’Hort and that of Portinatx; 26th October, 1763.

Dominating the northern part of the island, it didn’t unfortunately ever receive its allocation of artillery; however, it did go on to function as a key observation point and was manned at all times by two watchmen.

The Torre des Molar is located by following the coastal path from the beach of Port de Sant Miquel or alternatively by taking the road to Na Xamena, and turning right after 1km.
